Welding together a pressure vessel is difficult, but getting it right is even harder. One of the problems is that correctly and incorrectly welded tanks can look exactly the same, but pressurizing a poorly made tank can lead to catastrophic failure.

That is why there are such strict rules regulating tank inspection and who is and isn’t allowed to create tanks and boilers.

Even properly made, boilers and tanks need to be constantly inspected and maintained to ensure the safety of the people working in proximity to them.
